Laurie and Brian

I love when I can play between different versions of  the favorite song of my couples.  In this case, Laurie and Brian chose “The only Exception” by Paramore, and I was fortunate to find the Orchestral version by The Orchestral Academy of Los Angeles, and mix them together.

As soon as I heard the contrast of both songs playing together I knew that would be the perfect companion to highlight the best moments of Laurie and Brian´s wedding.

With a perfect coordination of  Baja weddings,  the talent of Bradley Fraser as the photographer, everything was wonderful one more time at Cabo del Sol.

Amanda and Kye

Amanda and Kye´s wedding took place at beautiful Pueblo Bonito Pacifica Resorts.

A couple of days after their wedding Amanda asked me if she and Kye were a little different than most couples I have encountered.  I answered that she is not the usual emotional and nervous bride who is crying during the whole day, and that I am sure that character is what Kye must love about her…

After all, just as her maid of honor said “You truly are perfect for each other” and “there is no one who could have make her happier”

Barette and Christopher Shortfilm

When Nina Vance (the mother of the bride) opened the door of Barette´s room told us, “She is so happy because you are going to work with her”.   The truth is, that I was already happy since I met them in our meeting.

When I knew them, I remember have thought, “we are going to have fantastic shots with this good looking couple”.  As soon as they hired us, I called Gabriela Mohar (who was going to be the photographer in Barette and Chris wedding)  and the curious thing was that she told me exactly the same when I told her we were going to work together again.

With all those incredible spots of Cabo Azul, everything turned out beautiful.

Lorilee and Jared

Lorilee and Jared´s chose having their wedding on a palindromic date, 11/11/11.  There are a million of reasons this date is considered special in so many ways.  Joining their lives this day will be the most important  and meaningful for this couple.

The coordinator, Beth Dalton – For you I Do Weddings knew this, and put a lot of efforts to make the most special event for them.  Of course she totally did it!

This are some of the vendors Beth got for Lorilee and Jared.

Daniela and Javier Shortfilm

I hadn´t had the opportunity of shooting a wedding at Sunset da Mona Lisa in a while, but of course I hadn´t forgotten the experience of being witness of the exceptional view this place has to offer.  And that, combined with the great vibe of the wedding, has not comparison.

All this made me think about the name.  Everybody knows the Mona Lisa painting also known as La Gioconda.  This piece and all the story around it has been full of adjectives like, enigmatic, fascinating,  mysterious, beautiful, and the list goes and goes…

My point is, you wouldn´t say almost the same from a sunset, just like the amazing ones you can witness in this place?  I don´t know the person who thought in this name or if he or she was thinking the same I was.  I just can say that this is one of those cases that everything is in the right place.   And a wedding rounded of all this concepts must be a perfect start…  I am sure Daniela and Javier agree with me.

Michelle and Marc

Times has changed for the wedding videography (today transformed in cinematography) industry…  The goal now while producing is approach to the film look.  All the news cameras and technology in general allows us to play this way even in social events as weddings where the script is written, and you can almost touch all those strong feelings.

Even when we can offer a certain Cinematic Touch ;) we are always in the searching of making this memories more personal and different for every single couple.

For Michelle and Marc Short Film we thought in a way of delving a little bit more in some aspects we simply cannot be part of.  So, we provided a Handycam to one of the groomsman and asked him to shoot whatever he wanted to shoot…  The results couldn´t be better!  He is the kind of guy who is narrating all what he is seeing giving a totally different sense to the history, making it feel real, and contrasting the history with all what we could perceive!

So, we will be insisting in making all our films look like a movie, but we will also insist in reflecting the style of the couple while we tell the history.

Hope you enjoy it as we did!

Thanks to Kym Salafranca, the coordinator of this event, you did a fantastic job!

Sarah and Rick

I cannot remember a hotter day than this one in which Sarah and Rick joined their lives…  I laughed so bad when Marco Arechiga told them, and I quote,

- “Your love is melting us all away guys, I hope you never forget your wedding… Every time you sweat, think in Cabo”.

Of course everybody laughed, and like this, with a lot of smiles in the crowd  was how this story started.

Sarah and Rick are so in love that must have been super easy for Manuel Burgoin taking their pictures.  It was for us in the wedding film so, I am sure it will be easy to them share what they were feeling on their day just showing their amazing photos and of course, their film! :)

With Magda Rueda as the wedding coordinator, everything turned out just perfect!

Nicole and Peter

A frequent question brides asks me is, if they and their guests will be noting us around all the time, during the whole day.

I always answer honestly about this, and I say that there is no way we can hide that well to pass unnoticed, and also having the best result for the film.  We even might interfere in certain moments to ask them or direct them to do an specific action and, that it is always better having a video session besides the usual photo session with the couple…  I know all this sounds annoying but believe me when I say it is not.

I have read reviews of past couples saying that they even didn´t note we were there, with the exception of the real session.  They have said, the emotion is quite intense that they remember everything blurry, out of focus…  Exactly there is where we fit.

What we do is observe and find your style, deciding the way of how you are going to remember and cristalize all those blurry images in your mind, telling the story of the day you joined your life with the one.  That is exactly how it happened with Nicole and Peter´s wedding.

They gave us totally freedom to do what we need to do.  They even chose the photographer Gabriela Mohar knowing that we are good friends and we are able to interact and direct them together.   At the end we got beautiful shots which help us to tell what we need to tell…

I can assure you this, we will be the most unobtrusive possible during the most important moments in the day, but during other moments we will be a true directors of the your memories.

Yalda and Ben The musical

From where can I start telling the marvelous experience we had doing this project?

Everything starts in one of the firsts e-mails Ben sent me.   He did one specific question to me,

- “Do you think we can make a musical video?”

- “We totally can, if you guys are willing to act, dance, and convince all your guests to do it!” – I replied.

How could I know by then that everything was going to be in the right place in every single aspect?

Ben dancing skills are beyond usual, Yalda sweetness  reminds me a genuine princess of those you can see in any Disney musical, the cooperation of all their guest was similar to having an entire cast of extras of a real movie production.  I really must say, a big percentage of the value in this project is totally due to them.

And what about the crew behind the cameras?

Leonardo Batis (my inconditional 2nd shooter, and director of a bunch of scenes), Heidi Sunsdstrom (3rd shooter and young padawan), Sam Perches (cool crane operator, colleague and friend), Luz Magaña (assistant, script coordinator and my beautiful girlfriend!).  This project would be completely impossible without any of them.

Thank you to Juan Carlos Tapia to allowed us (and helped us) to take a lot of the time destined to photos to do this.  What a better thing for the good of a project than vendors partnerships!

This is what Ben sent us when he first saw it,

ANGEL!!!!!!

I am at a complete lost for words….

This video, in short, is the most SENSATIONAL, AMAZING, FANTASTIC, OUTSTANDING, PHENOMENAL AND SPECTACULAR work of art I have ever seen!!!!!!!

I actually cried twice the first two times I saw it and still tear up after the 15th and 16th (and many more) times!!!!  We cannot wait to show all our friends and family!

Yalda and I love it and we cannot even begin to thank you enough and express how much we appreciate your hard work!!!!  Please offer our deepest gratitude to your entire team!

If you’re ever in Vancouver please give us a call!!!

Next time we’re in Los Cabos we need to meet for a drink!

Muchas gracias!!

Ben

Tammy and Scott

Tammy is the sweetest girl, Scott is the most easygoing guy!  When this two adjectives go together on my clients, I know we will be able to work nicely!

If I suggested Tammy to move herself to the best light to me, she simply did it, if I asked them if weren´t be a big bother having 30 minutes with us for the video session, they just smiled me and said a firm ‘of course!’  I believe all that good vibe is reflected in this piece.

Special mention to Courtney Congdon the amazing photographer.  Most of the times photography is the most important vendor, we need to be side by side to get our shots and, if there is any space for us, we use the time the photographer is not needing.  Not here.  With Courtney it was like having her in our team,  as simply as that!

The key of Tammy and Scott wedding was cooperation.  That, combined with the nicest weather, the sweetest family and friends, and a super nice couple couldn´t be better!
