Jessica and William

This past November, one of our all-time favorite couples, Jessica and William, became Mr. and Mrs. Womack, tying the knot in a lavish ceremony at the very exclusive Waldorf Astoria in Cabo San Lucas. Nestled cliffside where the rolling Sea of Cortez meets the crashing waves of the Pacific Ocean, the properties location is the perfect metaphor for the joining of kindred spirits, and Jessica and William are all that and more.

This pair of fishing fanatics, along with their very attentive wedding planner Pamela Suffo, chose to calm pre-ceremony nerves by incorporating a “first look” into their wedding timeline, and what a first look it was. William’s eyes shed the happiest of tears as he turned to meet his bride, Jessica looking radiant in white lace, off the shoulder boho-inspired sleeves and a Cathedral length veil, her fresh and fabulous hair and makeup courtesy of the very talented Suzanne Morel. Our bevy of bridesmaids upped the ante in electric blue gowns that were just the right combination of up-scale elegance and Cabo fun, while William’s boys looked sharp in light grey. Put simply, it was one good-looking bridal party, and we were ready to go.

Come ceremony time, the excited energy was buzzing as guests took their seats in the resort’s lobby, an awe-inspiring structure decorated with an overwhelming abundance of exotic florals in shades of bright orange, pale pink and shocking fuchsia (Cabo Floral Studio, you never fail to wow us with that phalaenopsis!). The uber-talented Francisco Alatorre set the mood on his Flamenco guitar, as Minister Marco Arechiga delivered a heartwarming ceremony packed with love, laughter, and his signature jokes. Minister Marco has a knack for putting people at ease, drawing laughter and inspiring tears, all of which were hallmarks of Jess and William’s ceremony.

It’s hard to pick our favorite moment when it comes to Jessica and William, but their very touching dances with Dad and Mom took our breath away. After toasts from loved ones, and those very special dances, DJ Teeven amped it up with a mix of old and new that had young and old on the dance floor until the wee hours. Superbly attended to by the hotel’s award-winning banquet staff, and drink after drink in hand, Jessica, William and their closest peeps celebrated love like only fishing fanatics know-how – on the dance floor!

A very special thank you to Photo by Julieta, with whom it is always a pleasure to share the stage. Jessica and William, we wish you a lifetime of love, happiness and more than the occasional trip to Cabo! Thank you for trusting us with your fondest memories.

Vicki and Vik’s Wedding at Sunset Mona Lisa, Los Cabos

Vicki and Vik’s Los Cabos destination wedding in July was set to be a scorcher. Summer’s unrelenting sunshine was forecast to push the mercury high and the absence of cloud cover provided little hope of intermittent bouts of shade, but this Colorado couple was determined to celebrate their nuptials in style. Along with wedding planner Paola from Cabo in Love, Vicki and Vik decided to go big, bold and beautiful, combining good food, great wine and a lot of color into a weekend-long celebration worthy of celebrity status.

We unpacked our cameras at host resort Grand Fiesta Americana, where friends and family buzzed with excitement as the traditional Indian Haldi ceremony unraveled. Covering the faces, hands, and feet of the soon-to-be newlyweds in bright yellow turmeric paste is said to invite luck, prosperity and ward off evil spirits, a stepping stone into a happy life as man and wife. It was a moment of peace, joy, and togetherness that set standards high for what was to come. Guests were brimming with excited energy, waiting anxiously to see what else this fun-loving couple had in store.

On the morning of the big day, as guests lounged poolside and enjoyed some of that Cabo brand sunshine, it was time to get the preparations underway. Safe in the air-conditioned comfort of her suite, Vicki was the epitome of bridal elegance in a crisp white two-piece with a vibrant red overlay, her bright lips, gold jewelry, and gorgeous green eyes completing the statement look. As any bride knows, you are only as good as your girls, and Vicki’s team was on point in shimmering pink and gold. Her sister, the maid of honor, upped the ante by donning baby blue, and with hair and makeup kits packed away, Team Vicki was officially wedding-ready.  After a short and sweet first look (note the adorable tears in Vik’s eyes) it was time to board the buses.

Our couple had chosen the iconic Sunset MonaLisa as the location for their festivities. Nestled cliffside over Missiones Beach and with views to Land’s End and the famous Los Cabos Arch, the restaurant is surrounded by sandy beaches, towering rock formations, and emerald green oceans. On a terrace overlooking the horizon, Vicki and Vik said “I do” in a ceremony punctuated with love, giggles, and good-natured jibes, leaving our guests roaring with laughter and crying happy tears as the celebrant announced Mr. and Mrs. Sed for the first time. The congratulations were in full swing, but Vicki and Vik were just getting started, having prepared an epic celebration to follow.

A quick outfit adjustment saw Vicki remove her traditional red lehenga and dance her way into her reception in white. Vicki and Vik had chosen to go minimal when it came to floral decorations, opting to showcase Cabo in all its glory. String lights twinkled in the evening sky as guests toasted to the future, and as DJ Ricardo PatiƱo opened the dance floor the Cabo sky lit up with fireworks. It was an evening to remember for all the right reasons, and we hope Mr. and Mrs. Sed, their friends and family enjoyed it every bit as much as we did.

PS. A huge thank you to Vicki and Vik for your kind words. Your testimonial means the world to us.

Until next time,

Angel + Luz
