Jodie and Kike: A Multicultural Celebration at Acre Baja, Los Cabos, Mexico
Lately, we have been spending a lot of time at the voguish Acre Baja, and what’s not to love about the location! For Australian Jodie and Puerto Rican Kike it was love at first sight. Fast forward to 2018 and the couple chose Los Cabos in which to make it official, a point somewhere close to halfway between their respective hometowns. With guests traveling from all over the world to witness the occasion, we knew we were about to be a part of something very special.
The couple’s gorgeous ceremony setup reminded us of a modern day fairytale. Curious, jewel-toned peacocks and one rather adorable burro looked on from a distance as guests took their places on Acre’s lawn terrace. While the restaurant’s stunning architecture and naturally beautiful landscapes make it a favorite amongst brides looking to cut back on the decoration budget, Jodie’s exquisite taste was evident in the romantic, calico-draped wooden altar by Elena Damy, whose beautiful arrangements of white and green paid homage to the raw and natural, and perfectly complemented the scenery. Jodie and her groom had chosen to calm their nerves by scheduling a quick, pre-ceremony first look, which did nothing to mask the emotion in Kike’s eyes as his bride appeared in her boho-inspired, white lace gown and natural waves come ceremony time. The modern duo chose to say their “we will’s” rather than their “I do’s”, and their personal vows to one another left few dry eyes in the house.
Acre’s impressive body of worker bees swung right into gear post-ceremony, as guests were escorted to the nearby pool terrace for cocktails and appetizers that must be experienced to be believed. Keeping in tune with the couple’s vision, wooden tones and accents of white and green completed the simple decor, and a traditional mariachi ban injected some Mexican spirit into the air.
What do you get when you bring together a rowdy, fun-loving cast of Aussies, a passionate bunch of Puerto Ricans, and a healthy handful of Parisians, Canadians, Americans, Brits and Hong Kongers, all in one of Mexico’s most renowned party towns? You get a wedding reception nothing short of epic! Guests were warned early on that a refusal to hit the dance floor meant no more food or alcohol, but let’s face it, they didn’t need much encouraging. Acre’s Mango Orchard was the natural choice for the festivities, complete with a traditional Mexican tiled floor, rolling lawns, and twinkling market lights. The impressive tablescapes were carefully put together by Elena Damy, while DJ Alex made sure the tunes kept coming well into the night.
A very large and heartfelt thank you to coordinator Claudia Morales, from Elena Damy Destination Weddings, whose eye for detail and organization makes working weekends such a pleasure! Pulling off a destination wedding event truly is a team effort, and we are thankful to all involved.
We love love stories, and there is something very special about couples like Jodie and Kike, who seem to beat all odds and find each other at just the right time, on just the right rooftop, somewhere far from home.
